Meet Lauren
Lauren comes to the profession of therapeutic massage from a very strong background in health and preventive medicine. She began her college career pursuing a medical degree but quickly found that she preferred to be on the frontend in prevention. Lauren completed a Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology specializing in Nutrition and Psychology. Her thesis examined the effect of exercise on mental wellbeing (specifically levels of depression and perceived wellbeing).
My Story
Lauren was hired by AT&T to run a seven state region for their Health Promotion program. Responsibilities included managing any health risk behavior and promoting productivity through better mental and physical wellbeing. She managed the Company’s fitness centers and counseled employees on cholesterol management, nutrition, stress management, smoking cessation, and exercise. One of the activities she promoted at work was massage. Having used it as a competitive athlete, Lauren was well-aware of the benefits for both mental
and physical health.
Since leaving AT&T in 1996, Lauren has been practicing as a massage therapist. She specializes in Deep Tissue and Neuromuscular, with a focus on treatment of issues such as acute and chronic injury, ergonomic related problems, and muscle imbalance. She not only addresses the discomfort that brings her clients to her but she ferrets out the actual cause and provides suggestions for action steps such as exercise, stretching, and ergonomic changes to help resolve the issue. Her greatest satisfaction comes from having a client leave the office without pain, and with increased range of motion and the ability to participate in the activities that enrich that client’s life.
